Nobby Clark wrenching for the legends.

After a long and brave battle against illness legendary technician, Nobby Clark has died aged 81.

No other mechanic in the history of the sport spanned so many generations and worked with so many legendary riders – from Gary Hocking to Kenny Roberts – and Nobby was still involved in the sport he loved fettling classic race bikes in the US. Who else can claim to have worked on factory MV Agusta, Cagiva, Honda, and Yamaha machinery?

Originally from Rhodesia, Nobby made his home in the US after his years travelling the world as part of the grand prix circus and made, and retained, many friends in the US who looked after him in his later years. In a period when the world was a much bigger place, he taught himself several languages, something the Japanese teams especially appreciated.

Classic Racer plans a full tribute to Nobby Clark in a future issue.
