Good as Gould

by

Dear CR

In the November/December issue of Classic Racer, you covered the career and success of Rod Gould.

He, along with his mum and dad lived next door to me and my parents, and Rod was born there. I was allowed to hold him when he was a few hours old, me being 12 at the time. I spent many hours playing with him, and pushed him miles in his pram.

My husband and I watched him start his career from the very beginning, my husband helping in a small way as we were bikers too. I have a scrapbook of all Rod’s events, good and not so good, which I treasure.

We did correspond but lost contact over time. I am now 86 years old and I would just like him to know I am still here and think of him, especially on his birthday.

Eileen Bonner

Dear Eileen, Thank you very much for your communication and your memories of Rod. It was a pleasure to read and I’m sure that he has also enjoyed reading this letter in CR.

Best wishes,

Tony
