Going solo

by

After Solo’s Chris Hawksley visited Bernie Ecclestone’s private collection at Biggin Hill and started some very rare, exotic and expensive race cars, another market opened up.

The Solo starting service is a regular in the Classic Racer Grand Prix Paddock at Stafford Show and will be at Dijon Prenois in May, the Bremerhaven Grand Prix in June, Spa, Mallory Park and Chimay in July. August will see the team of Chris and Fiona at either Imatra or the Cadwell 80th anniversary, with the biggest event in August being Classic TT and VMCC Manx Rally.

Solo starters are the most powerful on the market, having two motors and direct gear drive. There are three models available, ranging from £740 to £860. The 24v version is particularly suitable for high compression race bikes, and Chris is always happy to offer individual advice.

The latest innovation from Solo is an additional attachment, which with large pneumatic wheels and battery tray makes moving around much easier and has the added advantage of allowing the Solo to be stowed vertically.
